Safrochain

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Clear answers from your first transaction to the infrastructure underneath.

Getting started

What is Safrochain?

Safrochain is Africa-first open public infrastructure: a fast, low-cost Layer-1 for mobile apps, on-chain services, governance, and self-custody.

Do I need a bank account?

No. A phone and internet connection are enough. There is no paperwork, no branch visit, and no permission required to participate.

Is it safe?

You hold your own assets and keys through self-custody. A distributed validator set secures the network, and no single party can freeze or seize your balance.

How much does it cost to use?

Fees are a tiny fraction of a cent per transaction, designed to stay affordable for everyday activity at scale.

About SAF

What is the SAF token?

SAF powers the network: you use it to pay fees, stake to help secure the chain and earn rewards, and vote on governance decisions.

How do I get SAF?

You will be able to acquire SAF through supported exchanges and on-ramps. For testing, the developer faucet provides free testnet tokens.

What is staking?

Staking locks SAF to help secure the network. In return you earn a share of rewards. You can delegate to a validator without running any hardware.

Technical

What is Cosmos?

Cosmos is a family of interconnected blockchains and the SDK Safrochain is built on, one of the most trusted, battle-tested frameworks in the space.

What is IBC?

The Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol lets Safrochain move assets and data securely between hundreds of connected networks, with no risky middlemen.

Can I build on Safrochain?

Yes. With CosmWasm smart contracts, SDKs, a faucet, and an explorer, you can go from idea to deployed quickly. Start with the documentation.
